very late weekly post

Yesterday we drove back from Colorado. To be honest, the trip kind of sucked? The drive down was awful for a myriad of reasons. None of us slept very well. I ended up driving through the Utah mountains at night, which had the dual effect of stressing me the fuck out and slowing us down what I have to assume is a decent amount. Our hotel was pretty good, but a lot of the foods everyone was excited about having again were just not all that great.
My best friend's wedding was amazing, though. She looked like a princess, and it was amazing to see her so surrounded by love. I got to meet two of her other closest friends, and they were both really cool. I also got to meet her kid, and they were so awesome. It was really stressful because I don't spend that much time around that many people very often anymore. There were a lot of covid precautions taken and my household were all masked, so I'm not worried that we got sick, but it was a LOT. Still, I'm really glad that I made the trip and got to be there for it. I also made her wedding jewelry and got TONS of compliments on it, which was really gratifying.
I also got to spend time with my dad and my sister, separately, which was great. We moved to opposite ends of the country 5 years ago and it's hard to see each other, especially since I'm still covid-cautious and they aren't. I just took masked walks with both of them, and I wish that was something that I could just routinely do with them. I'm going to chat with each of them about getting a regular cadence of talking back on track. We used to be really good about it and I want to take the lead on making it better again.
This was a strange week to start ADHD medication. For the most part, it's been really helpful for my focus. But I've very much built my living space/habits to support myself, and I think being medicated without having any of my structures in place was less helpful. I'll be interested to see how the next couple of weeks go on it. I'll probably type up more of a roundup soon, because I really do want to catalog what I've been experiencing.
